Professional Profile

Yolanda Cooper became the University Librarian at Emory University, Atlanta, on January 15, 2014. In 2019 she was promoted to Dean and University Librarian. She provides strategic leadership and oversees all operations and services for Emory Libraries’ spaces on the Atlanta and Oxford campuses except for Theology and Law. This includes a high density Library Service Center shared with Georgia Institute of Technology.

Previously, she held two positions at the University of Miami Libraries, from 2003 to 2013, first as the deputy university librarian, and in the fall of 2013 acting dean and university librarian. Prior to joining the University of Miami Libraries, she served as the associate university librarian for organizational development at the University of Virginia Library in Charlottesville, Virginia from 2003 to 2006, and she was the assistant dean for human resources at Indiana University Bloomington Libraries from 1998 to 2003.

She is the current Past Board President of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries, serves on Harvard Libraries’ Visiting Committee, and is a member of the HathiTrust Board of Governors. In January 2020, she will be a member of the HathiTrust Executive Committee and Incoming chair/Treasurer. Yolanda holds an M.L.S. from Indiana University.
