In accordance with Emory University's campus safety guidelines, Emory Libraries require strict safety protocols for patrons and staff.

  • Current students, faculty, and staff are required to complete online training and onboarding modules that outline health and safety background information and expectations, found in the ELMS portal.

  • Where applicable, on-site access to library spaces for loans, research, and study is by appointment only.

  • Social distancing measures are in place, including the removal of seating, if possible, to ensure physical distancing of students in library common areas.

  • Face masks are required in all library spaces.

  • Protocols for the safe handling of materials are in place, and both library patrons and staff are required to follow Emory University's health and safety guidelines, with signage posted throughout public spaces.

  • Emory University Libraries recommend that users always wash their hands after handling library materials.

  • Cleaning stations with disinfectant cleaning supplies are placed throughout library spaces, to allow additional cleaning of tables and desks. Patrons are expected to clean their study space before and after use.

  • There are scheduled cleanings of high-touch surfaces throughout the day.
  • To protect the safety of our employees and customers, paper-based materials will be quarantined for a minimum of 48 hours when in transit and prior to delivery to borrowers. Non paper-based materials will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours or will be thoroughly sanitized using a 70% alcohol solution.

  • Please see Emory University's Campus Safety guidelines for more information for your safety during fall semester.
