Professional Profile

Lyndon Batiste brings over 13 years of extensive experience as a library and information professional, having held leadership positions in both public and academic libraries. During his tenure as a public librarian, Lyndon demonstrated a commitment to addressing societal inequities and systemic barriers to information and technology.

Notably, he initiated community programs, including Healthy Eating seminars, fostering partnerships with the local 4-H chapter and community gardens to provide free fresh produce to residents in food deserts. Lyndon also established a free coding class program for youth and conducted computer literacy classes for seniors, among various other initiatives aimed at promoting equity.

Currently serving as the Head of User Services for Emory University Libraries and Museum, Lyndon has undertaken multiple leadership roles. This includes serving as Co-Chair of the Search Committee for the inaugural Senior Director of Belonging, Diversity & Equity for Emory Libraries and Museum, Co-chairing the Access Services Policy Committee’s Circulation Subcommittee, and actively contributing to the DEI Committee, representing Emory Libraries and Museum on the Emory University Diversity Liaison Commission.

In 2022, Lyndon represented Emory Libraries and Museum at the Universities Studying Slavery Conference hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

Lyndon's accomplishments have garnered recognition, including being named a Spectrum Scholar by the American Library Association in 2020 and receiving the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Member of the Week award. In 2021, he was honored with the Association of Research Library’s Kaleidoscope Diversity Scholar Award. Furthermore, in 2023, Lyndon was selected to participate in the prestigious Harvard University Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians and the nationally recognized American Library Association Emerging Leaders program.

Additionally, Lyndon serves as adjunct faculty at Gwinnett Technical College, instructing on World Religions.

A graduate of Morehouse College, Lyndon holds a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Beulah Heights University and a Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama, emphasizing social justice and inclusivity.
