Professional Profile

Russ Peterson (he/him) is the Head of Instruction and Engagement at the Robert W. Woodruff Library of Emory University. In this role, Russ leads the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of diverse educational and outreach programming for students and faculty. He is also the LGBT Studies subject librarian, leading efforts to expand Emory’s collection of titles from queer-led, independent presses.

Russ was part of the 2020–2021 class of ALA Emerging Leaders, and his publishing record includes a contributed book chapter on peer observation and autotheory and an award-winning paper on AI pedagogy.  Originally from the Midwest, Russ received his Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in Latin American Studies from Carleton College.
