Professional Profile

Gautham Reddy joined Emory’s Robert W. Woodruff Library in 2019 as the subject librarian for South Asian Studies and Religion. He is preparing to receive his PhD, “An Empire of Literary Telugu: Remaking Language and Community in Colonial South India” from the University of Chicago’s Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations. He also holds an M.A. in the History of Religion from the University of Chicago Divinity School. Gautham is a member of the Association of Asian Studies (AAS) and the Committee on South Asian Languages and Documentation (CONSALD). He has linguistic expertise in Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi, and German.

Gautham works with faculty and students researching South Asia or Religion. His current interests include developing digital resources for the study of South Asia, supporting digital humanities scholarship, and building greater diversity in South Asia collections. He is also interested in community archives, the history of the book, and literary translation.
