Join us to celebrate the opening of this exciting exhibition that features the work of 25 contemporary Native American artists and designers. More than 50 pieces will be on display that express the visions and voices of Southeastern Indigenous heritage, including beautiful textiles, moving photographs, stunning paintings, intricate woven baskets, and more. Related items from the Rose Library’s collections will also be on display. The opening event will include remarks by Mekko (Rev.) Chebon Kernell, an ordained Elder in the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference and curator of the original exhibition in the Atlanta airport in 2023; walking tours of the exhibition; and guided discussions of historical timelines in the corridor. Hors d'oeuvres will be served.
“This Land Calls Us Home” will run Jan. 27 – July 20, 2025. Miranda Kyle, the Michael C. Carlos Museum’s curator of Indigenous Arts of the Americas and a Cherokee descendant, advised on the artist selection, oversaw the re-installation of the exhibition in the Schatten Gallery, and curated associated items.
