Government Documents

The Robert W. Woodruff Library along the Macmillan Law Library are Depository Libraries for U.S. Federal Documents.

Both print and online U.S. Government Documents are searchable in Library Search. Most of the Emory Libraries print government collection is stored offsite in the joint Georgia Tech-Emory Library Service Center, and is requestable by logging in to Library Search. By virtue of this partnership, Emory patrons also have access to government documents held by Tech (Tech is particularly strong in official NASA and EPA documents, for which they serve as a Center of Excellence). If you are a non-Emory affiliated patron, you are also able to request government documents materials. Please check with Library Service Desk staff at 404-727-6873 or libraryservicedesk@emory.edu.

Historical and current document indexes are available, as are a significant number of commercial indexes which include or are exclusively devoted to government documents. For questions related to specific sorts of documents (e.g., congressional hearings, executive branch documents, statutes at large), please see the Government Documents research guide.
