Research Services

The Rose Library is an equal access library available to anyone who is interested in our vast collections. Whether you are conducting in-depth research, writing a paper for class, working on a family tree, or simply curious about our holdings, you are welcome to contact us to set up a visit, or to request duplications of our materials. It is not required that you contact us ahead of time if you are planning to use Rose Library materials in person, but it will make for a more efficient visit. For more information on visiting the Rose Library-including registration, what to bring and where to stay in Atlanta,-please visit our Using the Rose Library page.

If you are unable to make the trip to Atlanta, or simply have a question about our materials, please feel to contact us. Research Services can assist you with any of the following, and more:

Research questions received by phone, email, or mail are handled in the order received. The average turnaround time is five working days.

Due to the large number of research questions we receive, our staff will spend a maximum of thirty minutes on each inquiry. However, you may contact us for a list of freelance researchers who will work on research questions for an hourly fee.

The Rose Library considers requests to borrow rare books and microfilm via interlibrary loan on a case-by-case basis. Researchers must make the request through the interlibrary loan offices at their home library. In general, the Rose Library only loans materials to institutions that have special collections and follow use policies similar to the Rose Library's.

Additional information is available from the Emory Interlibrary Loan Office.

We are happy to work with your institution to loan materials from the Rose Library collections for exhibition. To request a loan, please submit a completed Loan Information form and an AMA standard facilities report, to Gabrielle M. Dudley, Head of Research Services.
