Course Reserves

Course Reserves enables instructors to make course materials readily available to their students.

Instructors

  • Upload links and scans, and place requests through the Course Reserves online system.
  • Place requests for library-owned materials through discoverE.
  • Course Reserves content must comply with U.S. Copyright law. The Libraries will seek and pay permissions for uploaded materials when appropriate based on our guidelines. For more information, see our Reserves & Copyright page.
  • See the Course Reserves for Instructors page for instructions on how to add/reactivate materials for your course and access materials through Canvas.

Students

  • Access online materials (PDFs, website links) and physical reserves information through Canvas. Within your course click on Library Course Reserves to see your reserves materials list.
  • Borrow physical reserves (books, media) for short-term loan from your library service desk.
  • If your instructor doesn't use Canvas, go directly to the Course Reserves site to see your materials.

Physical Reserves Borrowing

  • Books: 2 hours, 3 hours, 1 day, or 3 days, depending on instructor. One renewal.
  • Audio and visual materials: One item for 3 hours, no renewals, library use only.
  • Equipment: One bundle for 3 days, no renewals (see the Equipment Guide for details).
  • Overdue fines: $1.00 per hour.
  • Items must be returned to a circulation desk, not a book drop.

Affordable Textbooks

Course Reserves is a part of the Emory Libraries Affordable Textbooks and Teaching Materials (ATTM) initiative, which provides solutions to the rising cost of textbooks, such as electronic textbooks, textbooks on reserve, and the Emory Barnes & Noble bookstore’s textbook rental program. Please visit the ATTM page for more details.
