Professional Profile

As the Copyright and Scholarly Communications Librarian, John Morgenstern is the primary resource within Emory Libraries for copyright education and consultation with a secondary focus on scholarly communications topics such as the publishing process, publishing contracts, and open access. Before joining Emory Libraries in 2023, John was the director of Clemson University Press, where he oversaw the university’s publishing program. Under his leadership, the university press (a department within the libraries organization) became a service hub advising faculty and students across academic units on copyright and other scholarly communications subjects. 

John’s research interests include the application of copyright law to teaching, research, and publishing; innovative publishing models; and modernist literature and the arts. He has presented and published broadly on publishing topics and interarts modernism. He is the coeditor of The Edinburgh Companion to T. S. Eliot and the Arts (2016), coeditor of Modernism in Wonderland (forthcoming), and the founding editor of The T. S. Eliot Studies Annual.
