Digital Publishing in the Humanities
Housed in Emory's Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry and supported by the Office of the Faculty in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences and by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Digital Publishing in the Humanities (DPH) program supports the broad dissemination of new scholarly monographs by faculty at Emory University and other metro-Atlanta institutions through subventions for open access monographs made directly to publishers. All books published through this program are shared on the DPH Program's Supported Publications page; they are also available in our repository of scholarly work by Emory researchers, OpenEmory. These books are open access and available at no cost in digital form on their respective publishers' websites, and most can be purchased in print form for those who want copies for their personal libraries. Emory Libraries also regularly purchases print versions of the works for our users who prefer to read them in that modality. Here are a couple of examples:
- The White Indians of Mexican Cinema by Mónica García Blizzard | read the book or buy the book (SUNY Press)
- Spatial Revolution: Architecture and Planning in the Early Soviet Union by Christina Crawford | read the book or buy the book (Cornell University Press)
Open Access Publishing Fund
Through the Open Access Publishing Fund, financial support from Emory Libraries helps Emory researchers share their work with the world. This fund mainly supports articles, but we have also provided funding for two books:
- Tar for Mortar: "The Library of Babel" and the Dream of Totality by Jonathan Basile
- The Codification of Jewish Law and an Introduction to the Jurisprudence of the Mishna Berura by Michael J. Broyde and Ira Bedzow
